Church History

In the year of 1970, Bishop Douglas, received a dream from the Lord to go to Hackney, and to "Go and purchase the land that I give unto you", in obedience, he did so. It was possible for Bishop Douglas to rent a hall in the Whiston Road area of East Hackney for a while. By faith each Sunday Bishop Douglas diligently prepared the hall for the expected souls.

One Sunday, while preparing the hall, he heard a voice saying "Go visiting" On arriving at a certain house, the sister who answered the door was waiting to go to church and gladly went with him. They returned back to the hall and by faith he preached to the sister and the empty chairs where angels were seated. In honour for his obedience and faithfulness, the Lord caused each angel to steadily manifest in souls in the East end of London for the Kingdom of God.

The Hackney Pentecostal Apostolic Church was birthed in the hall adjoining the Whiston Road baths which was not an easy labour, but the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; our chief physician was always in the midst of our travailing.

The church grew, and needed to be independent, therefore, Mother Douglas on passing our present building one evening, by faith in her heart request and claimed of our Lord Jesus Christ the securing of 39 Middleton Road for His honour and glory, and a place where all who may come could offer up praise and thanksgiving for redemption from sin.

In 1972 the building was acquired on a rental basis, until the Lord opened doors for us to purchase the freehold. In 1974, the Church in Hackney was officially registered as Hackney Pentecostal Apostolic Church, and prospered spiritually and naturally.

Throughout the years of hard work, many have received healing and deliverance. These include:

·  Brethren with cataracts in the eyes had then disappeared without undergoing appointed surgery

·  Asthma sufferers were set free

·  Sisters declared to be infertile having menstrual disorders conceived

·  Numerous brethren suffering with Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Migraines have been released

·  The Lord used a brother in another assembly on two occasions in Wolverhampton to minister mightily to two sisters, one having been plagued by the shadow of death for a number of years was set free; the other experiencing acute chest pains which the hospital doctors could not diagnose nor lower the pain, by faith left the hospital casualty to attend a meeting in Wolverhampton, where the Lord who is our Great Physician and Father, did that which the doctors couldn't do.

·  An elderly mother who suffered with brittle bones and due to have an operation to have a false knee cap inserted, under the hand of Almighty God experienced miraculous healing and is walking strongly.

This and many other mighty acts in the lives of individual members have been witnessed. We want to thank and Praise the Lord God Almighty for us here at the Hackney Pentecostal Apostolic Church and for what He has done, is doing and will be doing.
