Pastor Elaine Douglas

Greetings to you one and all in the mighty name of Jesus Christ !

Thank you for visiting our web page today and I hope that you will be blessed. We thank God for His manifold blessings upon us all and throughout the years; and to know that I am honoured and privileged to know that I am a child of the Most High God.

I am the pastor for the Hackney Pentecostal Apostolic Church. To share my testimony in brief; I was born in St. Ann's, Jamaica and as a young girl growing up I used to read my bible and pray even though I wasn't a Christian.

It was on Sunday 13 October, 1957 that I attended the Apostolic Church of Jesus in Cascade, St. Ann's, Jamaica. My friend had invited me and when I got to the church I stood on the outside admiring the young brethren worshipping the Lord. I was then approached by someone who challenged me and said, "If you think you're bad step inside"; I took on the challenge and went inside.

As I sat inside listening to the preacher preaching, he looked at me and said "Would you put fire in your bosom?" I said "no". The preacher said again "would you burn somebody" I said "why not".

He then said to me "you better come to God now" I answered the preacher and I said to him "who you talking to" he replied "you" so I hissed my teeth and he said the second time "you better come to God."   At this point another person came again and challenged me and said "if you think you are bad go to the altar."

I got up and I went up to the altar and knelt down to show the person that I was bad. As I knelt down at the altar, God took possession of my soul from that very moment; I was filled with the power of the Holy Ghost and began speaking in tongues as the spirit gave me utterance. I was baptised on Sunday October 27, 1957 under the leadership of Bishop R.C. Walker and I then became Sister Elaine.

After a few years I came to London on Thursday, November 9, 1960 to join my husband Bro. Sam Douglas where we worshipped together at an Apostolic Church under the leadership of Bishop A.J. Gordon.

While worshipping still at Bishop Gordon, the Lord showed Bro. Sam to come and work in the East of London. God opened doors for us that through our courage and bravery, The Hackney Pentecostal Apostolic Church was birthed. I was ordained a Pastor in 1990 by the late Bishop Murray.

God is really working on my side and I am sure He walks with me and I purpose to remain faithful and true to Him for he is the one who paid the price for me.   This is to let you know God is able to bring you through all your problems.

You are always welcome at the Hackney Pentecostal Apostolic Church at any time during our services and we look forward to seeing you. In closing, I would like to leave you with this scripture taken form 2nd Chronicles 15:7 "Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded." God bless you.
